Hello Field Street Family,
Allison and I are thrilled to call this church home! Thankyou to everyone who has made us feel so welcomed and loved. These last few weeks have been a good reminder for me that God has been and will continue to be the author and perfecter of my faith. It has been a blessing to see how He has provided each step of this journey. Words cannot accurately explain my excitement for what God has done and will continue to do here at Field Street. I want to take a few moments to tell you a little bit about me and my plans for the Young Adults.
I grew up in Sugar Land, Texas which is southwest of Houston. I went to college at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. It was at Texas State University, through a college ministry called Crosstalk, that I truly came to know and understand what Jesus had truly done for me. My life changed forever that night. Throughout my time at Texas State, I had godly men that came along side me and walked with me through life. God used these men to grow and but also shape me into the man I am today. Not only was it beneficial for my own spiritual walk, I came to understand the command that we are given in Matthew 28:19-20 which is, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” This text has come to be my heartbeat of how I do ministry. My ultimate goal is to make disciples by teaching them to obey what God has spoken to us.
With that said, my hope for the young adults ministry is that they come to embrace this command of discipleship as their own as they themselves are being discipled. My plan is to bring back Harvest, which will meet the first Sunday of the month and will be a time where we come together for fellowship, worship, and a time to be taught from the Scripture. The theme verses for Harvest will be Matthew 9:37-38, “Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.’” My desire is that Harvest will not just be a place that people come to, but more importantly, a place that we are sent from to share Jesus with those that do not know Him. From Harvest I will implement weekly small groups, Strands, consisting of a leader and two people of the same gender. These groups will consist of accountability, prayer, and digging through Scripture together. The goal is that each person will take what they learn and create their own Strand and disciple others as they are being discipled.
I am excited for what is to come and to be able to take part in what God is doing here at Field Street. There are so many ways for you to be involved in the church. My hope and prayer is that you will find a place to serve and grow. I would love the church to get behind ALL that is happening here at Field Street and intermingle no matter your age. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please come talk to me. I am available and would love to visit with each of you.
